If you have always wanted to explore the artistic world and perhaps even cultivate a creative skill or two, then it may be time for you to go on a mission. Project Mis-sion to be exact. Consisting of four progressive stages, Project Mis-sion takes members on an artistic discovery journey by giving them specific missions to be completed within a given deadline.
Interested parties will need to log on to Project Mis-sion’s website (known as the HQ) and sign up as a member. They will then be assigned a mission and will receive a status they have attained after completing each mission. Members will need to complete at least three missions within 2 years.
Mission 1: Visit art venues and art shops to get an idea of the arts scene in Singapore and find out what are the merchandise that are available for the arts. Members will also need to take a photo of themselves visiting the venues and upload it on to the Project Mis-sion website together with a short journal write-up on their thoughts and lessons learnt from their visits.
Mission 2: Watch performing arts events and visit exhibitions. The aim is to expose the members to the different genres of performing and visual arts and to prepare them for Mission 3. They will also need to take photos of themselves attending these events and the ticket stubs of their visits, as well as write reviews of the performances they have watched; to be uploaded onto the Project Mis-sion website.
Mission 3: Do an attachment with an artist/practitioner for an art event, and thereafter, create a new script/short film/product design. This mission encourages members to transform their ideas or inspiration (gained after having gone through Mission 1 and 2) into reality. It also provides them with the ideal mentorship environment to explore their creative skills and talents. The adult programme of Project Mis-sion, on the other hand, will require the adults to do either an attachment or sign up for an arts-related course. A list of the courses and attachments will be available on the project’s website.
Mission 4: Embark on a task of their own choosing. At this stage, members have had enough exposure to the arts and Creative Industries and may want to pursue their creative interest further. They will be given a list of task options in both the performing and visual arts to enable them to continue their passion. This will also ensure that members will continue to part of the creative community and contribute to its growth.
Through all these activities, Project Mis-sion helps to foster the development of new creatives, while injecting a fresh new buzz in the Creative Industries. What’s more, members can access the HQ anytime, anywhere with internet connection.
